Benefits of Being Religous

Many have characterized religon as a negative in peoples lives; something that causes people to live a miserable exisitance of fear and self loathing. Consider the following:

68% of highly spirtually committed people report being happy as compared to 30% of the highly uncommitted (Source: Gallup Poll)

Religous beleif is connected to a markedly reduced incidence of heart attack, arteriosclerosis, and high blood presure. (Source: John Hopkins University School of Public health)

Inner city residents who attend church are 59% less likely to commit crimes. (Source: Richard Freeman, Harvard University)

Only 7% of married couples who attend church together, once a month or more, divorce within 5 years. This is compared to 17.5% of couples who attend church once a year or less. (Source: U.S. National Survey of Family Growth)

46% of religously active people do volunteer work with the poor, sick or elderly as compared to 22% of non religous people. (Source: Gallup Poll)

Inner City youth with a strong religous orientation are 54% less likely to use drugs than those with such orientation. (Source Harvard University)

People who pray report a greater sense of well being than those who don't. (Source University of Akron)

These are just some of the benefits of being religous. To all those athiests who say "there is no God now enjoy your life" I would say there is a higher probability that you will enjoy your life if you believe in God and follow His way.
